Negaunee gymnasts post 9-point win in dual meet over Marquette

MARQUETTE — Negaunee posted a nearly nine-point victory over Marquette in a dual high school gymnastics meet held at Negaunee High School on Monday evening.

May Waters led the Miners with 33.20 points in the all-around as Negaunee scored 127.85 points to 118.875 for the Redettes.

However, it was Marquette’s Haddie Ketzenberger who won the all-around with 33.70 points.

Waters won both the vault with a score of 8.75 and the balance beam, though scores on that apparatus weren’t available. She was also third in floor exercise with 8.60.

Ketzenberger put together runner-up performances on all four individual events, scoring 8.45 in the vault, 8.00 on bars, 8.70 on floor exercise and also coming in second on balance beam.

Negaunee’s Kylar Kallioinen won the bars with 8.20 while Marquette’s Zoey Peterson took the floor with 8.80. Kallioinen was also third on vault with 8.40, while the Miners’ Miranda Rosten was third on balance beam and Negaunee’s Skylar Taavola and Kalli Mattson tied for third on bars, though a score wasn’t available.

Marquette will participate in the Peak Performance Meet in Marquette on Saturday, while both the Redettes and Miners will be at the Upper Peninsula Championships at Negaunee at 6 p.m. Monday.
