Marquette’s Ethan Martysz doubles up on All-Great Northern Conference football honors

KINGSFORD — With junior Ethan Martysz a double honoree, eight Marquette Senior High School players were Great Northern Conference football honors as voted on by league coaches recently.
Martysz, at 6-feet and 175 pounds, was named to the All-GNC team on offense as an end and on defense as a kicker.
In addition, junior Drew Gale (5-10, 170) earned all-conference honors at running back, while senior Zackary Albright (5-10, 210) was named on the offensive line.
On defense, senior Greyson Anthos (6-foot, 180) was named all-league on the line.
Four Redmen earned honorable mention status — senior Wyatt Filkins (6-4, 280) on the offensive line, senior Jake Johnson (5-11, 170) and junior Austyn Tabbert (5-10, 205) at linebacker, and junior Ryan Houle (5-6, 180) on the defensive line.

League champion Kingsford dominated the special awards, as the Flivvers’ Joe Rietveld was named Lineman of the Year, Sawyer Perpich was Offensive Player of the Year and Chris Hofer was Coach of the Year.
The other top award, Defensive Player of the Year, was given to Menominee’s Ethan Mileski.
