STEPHENSON — Munising junior Daryn Johnson made seven kills, 13 digs and two service aces but it wasn’t enough to keep Stephenson from earning a three-set, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 victory in a high school volleyball match played Tuesday night.

Senior Kelsea Ackerman added five kills and 22 digs in the Mustangs’ season-opening dual match. On Saturday, Munising finished runner-up at its own Munising Invitational.

Senior Marissa Ackerman had a team-high 44 digs, while junior Taylor Downs added 18 digs and two aces and junior Emily Contreras eight digs and eight assists.

The Eagles also won the JV match, 25-23, 25-16.

The Mustangs have another road trip on Thursday when they go to Gwinn.
