Coaches can join BCAM and it provides opportunities akin to other professional organizations.

One of those perks is being eligible to nominate players for this statewide recognition.

Seven of the 11 area players were named to the “BCAM Best” and eight of the 11 were girls players.

In all, 29 Upper Peninsula players were named to the various BCAM teams. That included senior Jason Whitens of North Central, the lone U.P. player to make the Best of the Best list of the top 10 players for each gender.

For the entire state, each class for boys and girls had about 20 to 22 players named per class for BCAM Best and about 30 to 40 for honorable mention.

Among the BCAM Best in Class A girls was senior Amber Huebner of Marquette.

In Class C, four area girls made the BCAM Best list — seniors Taylor Bryant of Newberry, Aleda Johnson of Negaunee and Frankie Mattson of Munising, along with junior Madigan Johns of Ishpeming.

On the boys side, seniors Trent Bell and Dre Tuominen of Negaunee were named BCAM Best in Class C.

On the honorable mention lists were seniors Marissa Immel of Munising and Marissa Maino of Ishpeming and junior Clara Johnson of Negaunee for Class C girls and junior Hart Holmgren of Ishpeming for Class C boys.

Class B girls — Honorable mention, Sloane Zenner, sr., Houghton.

Class C girls — BCAM Best, Linnie Gustafson, sr., St. Ignace; Jordan Kraemer, sr., Norway; and Hailey Wickstrom, sr., Calumet. Honorable mention, Ninna Anderson, jr., Calumet, Jordan Belleville, sr., St. Ignace; Emily Coveyou, soph., St. Ignace.

Class D girls — BCAM Best, Abby Nylund, sr., Forest Park; Kayla Rambo, sr., Pickford. Honorable mention, Taylor Opolka, jr., Pickford.

Class B boys — Honorable mention, Reece Castor, soph., Gladstone; Tyler Willette, sr., Escanaba.

Class C boys — BCAM Best, Carson Wonders, sr., Iron Mountain.

Class D boys — BCAM Best, Dawson Bilski, sr., North Central; Derrick Edington, sr., Pickford; Jacob Witt, jr., Ewen-Trout Creek. Honorable mention, Hunter Eichhorn, sr., Carney-Nadeau.
