Republic-Michigamme Hawks’ girls basketball season comes to end at Class D district tournament
REPUBLIC — The Republic-Michigamme girls basketball season came to an end Wednesday night as the Hawks fell to Wakefield-Marenisco, 62-35.
Tailyn Raisanen led R-M with 19 points. Although the season didn’t go the way that she’d hoped, Hawks head coach April Radcliffe thought her squad made a lot of progress from the previous year.
“Tonight we got into some early foul trouble and we were missing some key players,” she said. “Our effort just wasn’t enough tonight.
“This year, though, was much better than last year. We hit double-digits (scoring) in every game and we played really well in some of them. I’m disappointed in how it ended up, but we made a lot of improvement.
“I’m only losing one player, so hopefully, we’ll be a little stronger and smarter next season.”
