Munising Baptist girls basketball players honored by league

KINROSS — Two girls from Munising Baptist High School were recognized when the Northern Lights League named its girls basketball honors recently in a vote of league coaches.

Senior Joslyn LaFlamme earned Second Team honors, while junior teammate Alissa Exelby was named to the honorable mention list.

Junior Grace May of Maplewood Baptist Academy in Kinross was named Player of the Year. She averaged 17.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.1 steals per game.

May was joined on the Northern Lights First Team by junior Cecilia Beaver of Hannahville and three Ojibwe Charter players — seniors Sky Carrick and Malorie Parish and freshman Brecklin Williams.

Joining LaFlamme on the Second Team are sophomores Liberty Bailey and Ellie Bell of Maplewood and junior Dayson Beaver and sophomore Ruby Troxell of Hannahville.

Also honorable mentions along with Exelby are freshman Elsie Burton and eighth-grader Jessica LaFreniere of Beaver Island and senior Cheyla Shunk and eighth-grader Ella Cowell of Mackinac Island.
