Marquette’s Amber Huebner gets Class A all-state honorable mention in girls basketball

WARREN (AP) — Warren Cousino’s Kierra Fletcher has been named The Associated Press Class A girls Player of the Year in Michigan.

The 5-foot-9 combo guard, averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and five steals to help Cousino make a return trip to the Final Four this weekend. The senior will play next year at Georgia Tech.

Amber Huebner of Marquette was named to the honorable mention list after leading the Redettes to a 20-4 overall record, 8-0 Great Northern Conference campaign and berth in the Class A regional tournament semifinals.

Huebner averaged 14.3 points and nine rebounds per game.

Fletcher is joined on the all-state first team by Jordan Walker of Muskegon Mona Shores, Deja Church of Southfield A&T, Ellie Taylor of Midland Dow, Maddy Watters of Rockford, Autumn Kissman of Mason, Camree Clegg of Wayne Memorial, Destiny Strother of Flint Carman Ainsworth, Moira Joiner of Saginaw Heritage, Alisia Smith of Lansing Waverly and Lazurea Saunders of East Kentwood.

Skip Stevenson of Walled Lake Western was named Coach of the Year.
