Gonzalez pinned Gwinn’s Brandon Browell in just over a minute in the 171-pound division to reach the milestone.
Manistique head coach Gary Bowman was proud of his senior, who’s been a leader for his team.
“(Gonzalez) is a very hard worker and a joy,” Bowman said. “He tries to work with the kids and exchange some of his knowledge to the younger ones. It’s great to have him in Manistique, and it’s great for our young guys to see him reach these accomplishments.”
Gwinn’s lack of competitors cost them heavily on the night, as five of Manistique’s eight wins came by forfeit.

The Manistique wrestlers who won without the competition were Alex Misniakiewicz (103 pounds), Anthony Williams (109), Catherine King (125), Christian Aldrich (130) and Connor Watson (160).
Including Gonzalez, Manistique’s three other wins all came by pins.
Louie Berry defeated Gwinn’s Lynn Urmanski in 3:15 at 145, while Caleb Swanson pinned Gwinn’s Rhyan Herman in 1:07 at 285.
Bowman said the night showed potential of what Manistique’s wrestling program can be down the line.
“We have a lot of inexperienced kids,” Bowman said. “Our kids are going through a lot of firsts this season. We’re getting through some good tests, and we could be a really good team next season.”
For Gwinn, the night was highlighted by Kevin Roberts earning his 108th win as a Modeltowner.
Roberts pinning Manistique’s David Rahn at the 189 division in 1:07.
Gwinn head coach Dustin Luoma said the mark was achieved by Roberts’ full focus on wrestling.
“Roberts did very well,” Luoma said. “He brings a lot of good work ethic and we never have to harp on him.
“He runs hard, works out hard and puts forth a full effort all year long.”
Jaeden Martinez defeated Manistique’s Brendan Slater in the 140 division, while Dan Johnson pinned Manistique’s Dan Subalt at 215 to round out Gwinn’s other two wins.
Luoma was proud of his team’s efforts overall.
“We weren’t bad overall,” Lyoma said. “Our guys’ numbers are down right now. Our players had good individual matches as it went along, and it gave us some stuff to work on.”
Both teams are switching gears to prepare for individual districts next week.
Gwinn hosts theirs at 5:30 p.m. next Wednesday while Manistique hosts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9.
