MICHIGAMME - Voters in Michigamme Township will decide a race between two Democrats for township clerk in the Aug. 5 primary election. The open seat is for an unexpired term that ends Nov. 20, 2016.
A vacancy occurred for the position when the previous clerk, Jean Howe, retired on March 31.
Roxane Gardner, who began serving in the clerk's role as an appointee, will be running against William C. Seppanen for the seat. Both candidates reside in Michigamme.
The Michigamme Township Clerk's position is typically a 4-year term.
