Center closure wrong

February 22, 2014
Judy, Robert Larson, Gwinn , The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

We are the parents of a 47 year old developmentally disabled adult with seizures. He has always lived at home. We hope he can live with us as long as possible. However, with the closing of the activity center it has turned his world upside down, and also ours. He loved going to the activity center where he could be with his friends.

Yes, he does have friends! He had his routine and did well with it. We feel we have gone backwards with the closing of the center. From riding buses for hours to nothing.

We learned from caring for our parents with Alzheimer's disease we all need to be around other people and not just at home. We need to advocate for our loved ones.
