USOEC: Greco-Roman wrestlers win gold

MARQUETTE - United States Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman wrestlers Samuel Jones and Orry Elor struck gold in Vasteras, Sweden, last weekend.

Jones, of Folsom, La., and Elor, of Walnut Creek, California, both pocketed gold medals in the Junior Malar Cup.

Jones took first in the 60-kilogram weight class while Elor won the 120 kg division. The former won five straight matches on his way to the title, the latter posted three victories.

Placing fourth at 74 kg was USOEC wrestler Anthonie Linares of San Jose, Calif.

Also competing from the USOEC at 60 kg were Travis Rice, fifth; Kyndall Rutz, eighth; and Alec Nora, 10th.

At 66 kg, Deondre Sparks placed fifth and Auston Morrow sixth.
