Junior hockey: Marquette Royales hold comfortable division lead

MARQUETTE - The Marquette Royales extended their Great Lakes Division lead to seven points and their win streak to 14 games over the weekend with a sweep of the Illiana Blackbirds at Lakeview Arena.

The Royales topped the Blackbirds 7-3 on Friday, 6-1 on Saturday and 6-3 on Sunday.

Dallas McLaughlin had two goals and an assist Friday, Robby Gervino had two goals on Saturday and Drew Jarvis had two goals and three assists on Sunday.

Jeff Salzbrunn totaled seven assists in the three games and Lane King had seven in just Friday and Saturday's games alone.

In goal, Nate Eminger made 31 saves on Friday, Bryce Leaf stopped 18 shots on Saturday and Eminger made 32 saves on Sunday,

The Royales are off this weekend before hosting the Wooster Oilers Nov. 1-3 in Marquette.
