Health care reform talk slated

September 16, 2013
The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - Peter White Public Library will host a panel discussion on navigating the new health care reform changes at 7 p.m., Sept. 23 in the Peter White Public Library Community Room, Marquette.

Starting Oct. 1, the Health Insurance Marketplace will open for selecting insurance plans and in 2014 every individual will be required to have health insurance coverage or pay a penalty. New tax credits and subsidies will drastically reduce the cost of health insurance for thousands of Upper Peninsula residents but only if insurance is purchased through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Representatives specializing in health care insurance, tax issues and law will answer your questions on how to steer your way through the Affordable Care Act. Panel members are: Leslie Gardiner, panel moderator and an Insurance Consultant with City Insurance Agency; Mary Jeanne Rajala, an Accountant with Grandchamp, McBride & Prophet, P.C.; Erick Roberts, a Certified Public Accountant, and Tami M. Seavoy, an Attorney with Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Greenlee & Keefe, P.C.

The panel discussion will be geared towards how to choose plans for individuals and families and for small business owners. Medicare and Medicare prescription plans will not be covered at this event. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
