ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Northern Michigan University soccer team played its third game in five days Monday and was defeated by Lewis University, 1-0, to fall to 0-3-0 on the season.

The Flyers' Lauren Grady picked up a loose ball in the NMU penalty box to score the game's only goal in the eighth minute. Brianne Pettas assisted on the play.

Lewis (2-0) outshot Northern 15-7 in total shots, though NMU had six shots on goal and the Flyers had four. Freshman Paula Hafner tallied three shots on goal for the Wildcats.

NMU Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Glantz made three saves in the first half. Freshman Alexandra Simmons made her NMU debut and played the second half in goal.

The Wildcats begin a three-game homestead on Thursday against U.P.-rival Michigan Tech at 5 p.m. in a nonconference tilt. The final nonconference game is at noon Sunday against Bemidji State at the NMU Soccer Field.
