U-M broadcaster in last year

August 10, 2013

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - This season will be the last for Michigan football radio broadcaster Frank Beckmann.

Athletic director Dave Brandon released a statement Friday, thanking Beckmann for more than 30 years of service and praising him for "some of the great calls" in the history of Wolverines football.

Beckmann has called games since 1981, following another longtime broadcaster, Bob Ufer, who died that year.

The 63-year-old Beckmann says he's been working fall Saturdays for decades and wants to step aside while he has time for other pursuits.
