SANDS - Rob Goodwin of Marquette not only won the heat and feature races in the Late Model division on July 6 at the Sands Speedway, but he also leads the points standings at the halfway point of the season.
He was named a mid-season champion for his lead in those standings and is joined by Doug Maki of Perkins in Purestock, Ross Olsen Jr. of Sands in Four-Cylinder Modified and Steve Pepin in Super Stock.

Father and son Ross Olsen Sr. and Ross Olsen Jr. also had the distinction of posting the fastest times in their classes, Olsen Sr. in Super Stock of 16.477 and Olsen Jr. in Four-Cylinder Modified (17.346).
Other fastest times were posted by Collin Cavin of Marquette in Purestock, 18.384, and Goodwin in Late Model, 15.406.

Late Model - Heat: Goodwin; Gary McCullough (driving for Mike Mattson); Pete Polini (driving for Ryan Longtine). Feature: Goodwin; Polini; Daryl Britton, Marquette.
