Mary Katherine (Harrington) Zimmer

MARQUETTE, MI - Mary Katherine (Harrington) Zimmer, 92, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013 at Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.

She was born September 19, 1920, in Hancock, Michigan, a daughter of the late Joseph P. and Katherine (Herres) Harrington. She was a 1938 graduate of the John D. Pierce High School and attended college classes at Northern Normal School.

On June 4, 1946 she married Joseph S. Zimmer in Marquette.

Mary worked for many years as a secretary for her father at the Joseph Harrington Men's Clothing Store in Marquette.

In her younger years, Mary volunteered as a make-up artist for the Marquette Community Theater. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Her interests also included drawing, music, playing the piano, time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who gave her many smiles. She also loved her cats.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Katherine "Kathie" Ann Jandron of Marquette; granddaughters, Tia Michelle (Jon) Arntsen and Tammy Ann (Brian) Jandron-Kulbieda, both of Marquette; great- grandchildren, Mackenzie, Olivia & Quinn Arntsen, Arlie and Maris Kulbieda; and numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.

Mary's family would like to thank those that provided loving and compassionate care to her both at home and during her stay at Eastwood Nursing Center for the past 20 years.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon at St. Michael Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon in the church with Rev. Nicholas Thompson officiating. Interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Jon Arntsen, Brian Kulbieda, Jerry Kulbieda and Tom Butcher will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church Memorial Fund or Eastwood Nursing Center's Activity Fund.
