Robert “Bob” A. Peters

ISHPEMING, MI. - Robert "Bob" A. Peters, age 61, of 639 S. Pine St. Ishpeming passed away on Friday May 10, 2013 at his home while under the loving care of his family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Robert was born February 25, 1952 in Monroe, MI the son of the late Robert R. and Helen M. (Turczi) Peters. He was a graduate of the Monroe High School, class of 1970 and attended Wayne State University for three years under the G.I. program, and was a graduate of the Wayne Co. Sheriffs academy. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years, with overseas service in Okinawa, Japan.

Robert married Kellie Kluckey in March of 1981. Robert's work career started in Monroe Co. where he was a deputy sheriff for 13 years. He and his family then moved to Ishpeming, and he worked as a police officer for the City of Negaunee for 5 years. Robert then became chief of Police, Fire and Rescue for the Huron Mountain Club, where he had worked from 1991 to the present time. Robert was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping along with his work at the Huron Mountain Club. He also passed his time by doing many woodworking projects. He was a member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Kellie Peters of Ishpeming, 6 children Michael Peters of Portland, OR, Jennifer (Jaret) Sullivan of Jonesboro, AR, Anthony (Erin) Peters of Lake Ridge, VA, Robert (Samantha) Peters of Lake Ridge, VA, John Peters of Ishpeming and Jacquelyn Peters of Lake Ridge, VA, sister, Linda Goodale of Lunapier, MI, brother, William (Donna) Peters of Carmel, IN, 8 grandchildren Megan, Brenden, Annalisa, and Grace Ann Sullivan, Seann Pietila, Anthony, Robert and Addison Peters, along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Saturday May 18, 2013 at the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Ishpeming Twp., with the Rev. Tim Ott to officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #380 at the conclusion of the services.

The family will greet relatives and friends in the church hall following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Peters family at 639 S. Pine St., Ishpeming, MI 49849.
