MARQUETTE - The Volunteer Coordinators of Marquette County will present the Marquette County Outstanding Volunteer Awards at a volunteer recognition event Saturday at the Westwood Mall in Marquette. All volunteers may mingle, have refreshments from 2 to 3 p.m. and stay for the 3 p.m. awards program. Andrew LaCombe of WLUC TV6 will be master of ceremonies.

Awards will be presented in the following categories: Adult, Senior, Pet Partners, Organization, Michael D. Nunnally: NMU Student Volunteer, and Volunteer of the Year.

The awards are given annually, during or leading up to National Volunteer Week (this year April 21-27), to individuals and an organization to acknowledge their commitment to serving communities through volunteerism.

The Volunteer Coordinators of Marquette County welcomes those who work with volunteers at its monthly meetings. For more information about the group, call chairperson Jane Iery at 228-3578.
