MARQUETTE - The name of a female Northern Michigan University student found dead in her campus apartment has been released.

According to a press release issued by the university, Monica Matus, 22, of Chicago was found Friday afternoon in her Woodland Park apartment. The complex is part of NMU's student housing and is located along Wright Street.

Matus was an art and design secondary education major and film studies minor.

According to the release, the body will undergo an autopsy Monday. No foul play is suspected by NMU Public Safety and Police Services.

No further information will be released on Matus' death, said NMU Director of Communications and Marketing Cindy Paavola.

"This was not a university accident and no foul play was suspected," Paavola said.

Details of a memorial service are being planned and will be made available at a later date.
