Robert P. Davis

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Robert P. Davis, 60, of Marquette passed away Monday morning, March 25, 2013, at his home, with his family beside him and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.

He was born September 26, 1952, in Marquette, son of Robert and Sylvia (Eleanor) (Gustafson) Davis. Bob was a 1970 Marquette High School graduate and a lifelong area resident.

On September 15, 1978, Bob married Jean (Chiconsky) Davis at St. Michael Catholic Church in Marquette.

Bob worked for many years as a miner with CCI. Following his retirement at the mine, he was employed as a seasonal worker for the parks and recreation department for the City of Marquette.

Bob loved hockey. He began playing when he was a child, continued throughout high school and later in adult leagues. His favorite team was the Detroit Red Wings. He also loved the outdoors. Some of his interests included hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp with his family playing games such as horseshoes and cribbage.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Davis of Marquette; daughters, Kathy (Anthony) Whitted of Middleton, Wis., and Allie (Jason) St. John of Lake Bluff, Ill.; mother, Sylvia (Eleanor) Davis of Marquette; granddaughters, Alyssa and Alexis Whitted of Middleton, Wis.; siblings, Ed (Marilyn) Davis of St. Louis, Mich., Sharon (John) Carlson of Negaunee, Patti (Bill) Blemberg of Negaunee and Mary Kay (Bill) Glass of Appleton, Wis.; sister-in-law, Mona Davis of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Gary Davis.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Larry VanDamme officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the mass in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to UPAWS, 84 Snowfield, Negaunee, MI 49866 or Alzheimer's Association, 710 Chippewa Square, Ste. 201, Marquette Michigan.
