You have got to love the Negaunee Miners boys basketball team.
Ok, they didn't quite get to the big dance in East Lansing this week. The squad lost a heartbreaker, 45-43 Thursday afternoon to Laingsburg, in the MSHAA Class C semifinal at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State University.
But this team, which finished with a 24-2 overall record, was a winner in every other way.
For example, they averaged 65 points per game and allowed opponents to score an average 41.3 points per game. Both are outstanding.
The team had all kinds of standout players including but certainly not limited to senior forward Tanner Uren, junior guard Eric Lori and Tyler Jandron, who was the Mid-Peninsula Conference Player of the Year.
And hats off to Negaunee Miners head coach Mike O'Donnell, who also did an outstanding job this season.
This is a team that the entire region can be proud of. Congradulations, Miners!
