Barbara J. (Maki) Talus

NEGAUNEE, Mich. - Barbara Jean Talus, 68, of 105 Alice St., Negaunee, died peacefully at home with her loving family and friends by her side on Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2013.

Barbara was born March 11, 1945 in Ishpeming to Walter and Helen (Fosmoe) Maki, graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1963, and was a lifelong area resident. She was employed as a cook at the Main Drift restaurant in Negaunee and also at the Brown Derby in Ishpeming.

Mrs. Talus was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Ishpeming. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Barbara enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband of nearly 50 years, Dale J. Talus; daughter, Kathy (Tim) Helmuth of Brooksville, FL; 2 sons: Timothy (Julie) Talus and Steven Talus, both of Ishpeming; 4 grandchildren: Victoria and Nicholas Helmuth, and Alisha and Brandon Talus; sister, Leona (Irv) Krellwitz of Ishpeming; brother, Raymond (Sherri) Maki of Ishpeming; brother-in- law, Bruce (Lois) Talus of Ishpeming; sister-in-law, Suzanne (Bruce) Sheldon of FL; special niece, Ashley Talus; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Pamela.

A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 23 at the Koskey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice in Barbara's memory.
