ISHPEMING, Mich. - Mary Ann Richards, age 59, formerly of Ishpeming, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Ill. She had been treated there since January 2013 after being diagnosed with bile duct cancer.
Mary was born April 7, 1953, in Ishpeming, Mich. She was the daughter of Thomas and Martha Richards. She grew up in Ishpeming and lived most of her adult life in the western Chicago suburbs, most recently in Westchester, Ill. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School Class of 1971. Mary earned her B.A. and M.B.A. and worked in human resources for 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in LaGrange, Ill.
Mary enjoyed traveling, quilting, gardening, and the outdoors. She valued family and friends, and most of all she was a loving and proud mother. She was known for always making the most of her time and traveled every chance she got.

Mary will be missed by daughter Olivia Elissa Richards of Westchester, Ill., brother and sister-in-law William and Karen Richards of Chicago, Ill., nieces Christine Richards of Chicago, Ill., and Kate (Adam Barker) Richards of Irvine, Calif., and nephew William Richards of Schaumburg, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas (1972) and Martha Richards (2008), and brother, Ronald Richards (1985).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Wesley United Methodist Church. A luncheon in the church parlor will follow the service.
