The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University will offer a free guided snowshoe tour of Presque Isle beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The event, one in a series of events planned for U.P. Heritage Month by the NMU Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, is open to the public, but participants must bring their own snowshoes. NMU geography professor John Anderton will lead the tour. Anderton will discuss the history of the first people to settle Presque Isle and the beginning of Marquette as a modern town.
