MARQUETTE - The 2012 Marquette Senior High School alumni hockey game came down to a shootout following a 9-9 tie on Wednesday at Lakeview Arena with the Red team prevailing over the Black, 4-3, in seven rounds.
Black led 3-1 after the first period thanks to three goals in 17 minutes by Dallas McLaughlin of the Class of 2011. The Black team extended that lead to 6-1 midway through the second period.
Red recorded three goals to cut the Black margin to two before the second intermission, then tied the game at 6-6 with a pair of early goals in the third period.

Black was able to take leads of 8-6 and 9-8 in the third period while Red tied the game at 8-8 and finally at 9-9 with 2:17 to play.
Mike Peterson led the Red team in scoring with three goals and two assists.
The 2012 game featured current Redmen head hockey coach Mike L'Huillier on the bench for the victorious Reds while former coach Joe Papin coached the Black team.
Wednesday's game featured players as young as Austin Riipi, Brett Love, Chris Fedrizzi and Nick Weston from the Class of 2012 as well as two members from the Class of 1987 - Mike Devine and Jeff Peterson.
