IHS legacy set

December 24, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

I'm so very proud of the Ishpeming Hematites. These young men went above and beyond for their town and peers as well as each other.

I grew up in Ishpeming and am proud to be a Hematite. Those young people can make a big impact on their peers and other classmates. They can be mentors and good examples of how to treat one another. When I was younger I was bullied.

Even now, children have been bullied for all types of reasons, sizes, race, whatever. My own grandchildren have been scared by bullying. These fine young men have an opportunity to change the way people look at each other and how they treat each other. Bullying affects self-esteem and has caused murder, suicide and various other problems.

Please boys, keep the ball rolling and help make your town, school and community a more enjoyable and safe place to grow and live and raise a family.

Leave a legacy behind you that will keep us proud for our town and school.
