Freeman H. Wheeler

McMILLAN, MI. - Freeman H. Wheeler, 77, a lifelong McMillan resident, died on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry.

Born in McMillan on February 24, 1935, he was a son of the late Frank A. & Crystal M. (Roat) Wheeler. Freeman attended McMillan Schools and married the former Patsy Kirby on May 13, 1959. Freeman was employed in the logging/trucking industry for several different employers, Carlson Logging and Knutilla & Co. of Munising and Superior Studs, in Newberry. He retired in 1977. Freeman enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegatable gardening , crafts and woodworking. Besides his parents, Freeman is preceded in death by his brothers Edsel, Frank Jr., and "Barney" and his sister Marjorie Moran.

Survivors include his wife Patsy, of McMillan; sons and daughters-in- law Jeff (Marjorie) of McMillan; Randy (Jackie) of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; and Mike of McMillan; and 1 daughter Sara Doyle of Bremerton, WA. Also surviving are 1 sister Mable Bowen of Utica, MI; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Cremation services have been accorded. The family will greet friends at the Columbus Township Hall in McMillan on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 10:00 am until the time of services. Services will held at the Town Hall at 11:00 am with Pastor Ian McDonald officiating.
