Nowry heads USOEC’s highly ranked wrestlers

MARQUETTE - Led by Max Nowry's No. 2 ranking, 15 U.S. Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman wrestlers are ranked in the top 10 in the nation by, the official website of USA Wrestling.

The rankings feature athletes in the seven World Championship weight classes, of which the USOEC has at least one wrestler in each.

Nowry is second ranked at 55 kilograms (121 pounds) after winning the University World Championships in October.

"Moving up to No. 2 is nice," he said. "My goal is not only to be No. 1 in the country, but in the world."

"Being ranked is a good confidence boost for the athletes," USOEC Greco-Roman coach Rob Hermann said. "We have a good group of athletes here.

"Our goal is to keep progressing to become world and Olympic champions."

Here are the other USOEC wrestlers in the top 10:

55 kg - Isaiah Varona, No. 7; Dmitry Ryabchinskiy, No. 8

60 kg (132 lbs.) - Jessy Williams, No. 10

66 kg (145 lbs.) - Kendrick Sanders, No. 3; Nick Alvarez, No. 9; Thrasher Porcher, No. 9

74 kg (163 lbs.) - Tanner Andrews, No. 7

84 kg (185 lbs.) - Mark Stenberg, No. 3; Zac Nielsen, No. 4; Lee Wildes, No. 9

96 kg (212 lbs.) - Marcus Finau, No. 5; Eathen Dondlinger, No. 7

120 kg (264 lbs.) - Toby Erickson, No. 4; Parker Betts, No. 8.
