NEGAUNEE, MI - Martha Miriam Stott, 95, formerly of 98 Croix St., Negaunee died at 12:45 PM on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Bell Hospital where she had been a patient for 2 days.

Martha was born July 18, 1917 in Negaunee to Victor and Saima (Wiik) Maki and was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1936. She lived all over the country before returning to Negaunee in 1963. She had worked at the Vista Theater and for many years as a sales clerk at the Mautino Drug Store in Negaunee.

Martha was a life member of the Ladies of Kaleva for over 70 years, a life member of the V.A. Romo Post #3165 V.F.W. Auxiliary, was a member of the Tanya Stanaway Finnish Language Club for 32 years, the League of Finnish American Societies since 1996, the Wirtanen Pioneer Farm and Homestead Museum Society in Makinen, MN, and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, sewing, baking and cooking. She was a woman of many talents.

Surviving are her son, Roger (Carol) Stott of Negaunee Township, her daughter, Linda (Michael) Quinn of Cochranton, PA, a daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Alan) Johnson of Helen Lake, grandchildren: Toby (Gina) Stott, Eric (Tami) Stott, Jason Stott, Mark Bouschor, Laura Pelkie, Megan (Don) Eastin, Ryan, Cole and Craig Finley, Taylor Pelkie, Eric Bouschor, Annette Quinn, Jennifer Quinn, Brenda (Jayson) Wertel, Bradley Scott, many great grandchildren including: Alana Bush, Eric Alan Stott, Jr., Cassie Stott, Erin Stott, Brianna Stott, Calla Wertel, Clayton Wertel, Jessie Bouschor, Harmony Stott, Arielle Stott, Kyle Stott, Rachel Pope, 1 great great granddaughter, Selena Dix, many cousins and their families in the United States and Finland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Brian Stott in 2000, her former husband Roy G. Stott in 1998, to whom she was married from 1940-1965, 1 great grandson, a great great grandson Elijah, 4 brothers: William, Arthur, Oliver and Robert Maki, 2 sisters: Aili Carmichael and Inga Maki.

A Celebration of Martha's Life will take place from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the V.A. Romo Post #3165 V.F.W. on Gold St. in Negaunee. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wirtanen Pioneer Farm, 3322 Vermillion Trail, Makinen, MN 55763 in Martha's memory.
