CRYSTAL FALLS - Icy road conditions contributed to a single vehicle rollover accident that occurred Tuesday morning on U.S. 141 near the Net River in Iron County's Hematite Township.

At 7:56 a.m. CST, Iron County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting the incident, according to the Iron County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a northbound vehicle driven by Leslie Freund, 21, of Kenton went out of control on the ice-covered road and overturned into a ditch.

Police said Freund was not injured in the crash, however he was slightly injured while escaping the vehicle after it came to rest. Freund treated his own injuries.

Police said road conditions changed dramatically Tuesday in Iron County. Conditions were clear and dry south of Crystal Falls, scattered slippery spots were found between Crystal Falls and Amasa, and north of Amasa roads were ice covered, police said.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by Northstar EMS and Northland Towing and Recovery.
