Lake aid given

November 4, 2012
Maureen LaWent, secretary Lake Bancroft Committee , The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

Two fundraisers were recently held to help The Lake Bancroft Project finance costs associated with cleaning up and maintaining Lake Bancroft in a renewed state of health.

We are grateful for the assistance and support of the following organizations and individuals who helped make these fundraising efforts possible.

Regarding the very enjoyable dinner theater held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Ishpeming on Oct. 6, we thank the Father Ouelette Council 1541 of the Knights of Columbus for preparing and serving the meal, Al Keefer and the actors of the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council for entertaining our dinner guests, Jim's Jubilee and Super One for providing food donations, Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home and Concept Consulting for purchasing ticket blocks and St. John's and St. Joseph's churches and area businesses for allowing ticket sales on their premises.

Thanks also go to Butler Theater for the loan of their Humphrey Bogart cardboard statue.

And regarding our Croatian chicken dinner fundraiser hosted by the Ishpeming Elks on Oct. 20, we thank the Elks for their hospitality and help (special kudos to Jill), Elaine Racine and JoAnn Betts for their catering assistance, Steve and Michelle Martinac for their expertise and area businesses who again sold tickets on our behalf.

Finally, we thank you, the community, for your support. Because of you, Ishpeming will have a clean and beautiful tomorrow.
