Trillium House, staff, thanked

To the Journal editor:

On Jan. 13, we lost our beloved aunt, Esther Lepola. She spent the last four and a half months of her life at The Trillium House in Marquette.

We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and Lake Superior Hospice. It was important to the family to find a home, that was a home away from home, during the last days of her life. To be able to have a staff who treated our aunt as if she was a member of their own family. They are all truly phenomenal caregivers.

I have to mention the extremely kind CNA Kristen, who not only took excellent care of our aunt while she was at work but when it was time for Esther to go, Kristen came in on her own time. She held her hand and assured her, her family loved her when the family wasn’t able to be at her side. This act of kindness meant the world to the family.

We will not forget to tell others of your love and care for our aunt while at The Trillium House. We would like the community to know how blessed they are to have a facility that allows people to be in a home setting with staff that truly care about a person’s feelings and dignity.

We will never forget your kindness. May God bless you abundantly.
