Promote Native Americans
To the Journal editor:
Why not revere our “Native American” mascots and nicknames? We should paint on our school walls “Bravery,” “Wisdom,” “Strength,” “Endurance,” “Compassionate,” “Artistic,” “Conservationist” to list just a handful of their otherwise numerous positive traits.
Our examples are many: The Mohawk skyscraper steel workers, Squanto, Chief Kaw-baw-gum, Mah-je-ge-zhik, Janice Marie Johnson ( ’78 Grammy — Best New Artist), David Anderson (restauranteur and philanthropist, with wife, Kathy, of Famous Dave’s) etc.
Why not positively promote our Native American brothers and sisters to further support and perpetuate our people? As Americans, isn’t that the best mutually beneficial action to embrace?
