To find if people understand what is happening, inquire if they would be willing to be the defendant in a trial with the same rules applied in the house committees during the impeachment inquiries.

The information presented so far would not be allowed in any court of law but would accuse them of an illegal act. No one is presumed guilty until they can prove their innocence but there is no presumption of innocence in their case. Hearsay is not normally admissible but in the case against them would be. Ask them how they would defend themselves against an accusation based on hearsay.

They would not be allowed to call witnesses in their defense or question their accusers. If that doesn’t put it in persecutive for them, that is unfortunate.
