UP Honor Flight is grateful
To the Journal editor:
The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight thanks Bald Eagle Harley Davidson of Marquette for its UPHF fundraiser, the Spring Breakout at the Island Resort and Casino on March 23.
UPHF thanks all who donated, purchased tickets or helped in any way.
While we did not sell enough tickets for the motorcycle to be the prize, we drew for a $5,000 cash prize. That was won by Dennis Verbigghe of Escanaba, who was an Honor Flight participant in May 2018.
Interestingly, Dennis was one of four servicemen who rode in a special motorcycle brigade in Vietnam. This brigade would drive ahead of the other soldiers, searching for landmines.
Again, as we prepare for the next mission of UPHF on May 22, we are grateful for Bald Eagle Harley Davidson and all those who support our efforts to bring veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials in their honor and many other landmarks.
God Bless you all.
