Many contributed to Voter Guide

To the Journal editor:

The League of Women Voters of Delta County, Marquette County Unit, would like to applaud The Mining Journal for partnering with us to produce the local 2018 Voter Guide.

It has been over a decade since the last Voter Guide came out, and this most recent effort was a labor of love — and a learning experience — for the League and the staff of The Mining Journal.

We are so grateful for their commitment to resuming this valuable public service and look forward to collaborating with them in the future.

And we would love to hear suggestions from readers to help us make it even better. (Email them to priburnham@gmail.com or mail them to Priscilla Burnham, 375 N. McClellan Ave., Marquette, MI 49855)

We would be remiss if we did not also extend a thank you to all the local media who have done their part in making sure voters have access to information about the electoral process and the issues and races appearing on the ballot this year. Empowering voters is the cornerstone of a democracy.

Finally, we are really fortunate in Marquette County to have so many hard-working public servants, at all levels of government, conducting the people’s business day in and day out, without a lot of fanfare and often with little thanks.

We couldn’t have put out the Voter Guide or conducted our voter registration drive or published vote411.org without their help.
