Our world needs more love, less hate

To the Journal editor:

“Hate Hurts But Love Heals” was the quotation of a Holocaust survivor in an article in The Mining Journal on April 11. That is a quotation that should be the slogan of everyone on Earth.

Just think of a world without hatred — a world full of love. There would be abuse of people and no pet cruelty. There would be no shootings or bombings, no terrorism and no war. There would be no crime, no need for prisons.

There would be no gossip or prejudice, no criticism or lies, no quarrels or revenge. There would be more marriages and more two-parent families, no abortions and fewer birth defects. There would be less drunkenness and other addictions, fewer accidents and suicides. There would be no poverty or hunger or homelessness. Old hurts would heal.

As you can tell, I am an optimist, but I do realize we will never have a perfect world. However, we can have an improved world, if many of us concentrate on being more loving. As Jesus said, “… Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and will all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.” Luke 10:27

Love yourself in a healthy, unselfish way, so you will know how to love others in a good way.

“… love ye your enemies, and do good … Be ye therefore merciful … Judge not, condemn not … forgive … Give …” Luke 6:35-38
