Lesson to be learned from drug regulations

To the Journal editor:

Sadly to say, another tragic senseless killing has taken place at a school. This immediately brought out the anti-gun group against the hunters and NRA.

We hear the same story. Too many guns. Or, guns don’t kill, the people do.

Funny how time changes things. As a kid, my friend and I would come home from school, change, grab the shotguns (no cases) and head up to Lucy Hill to get a rabbit or a bird or two. We never thought of harming anyone.

Yesterday I read something interesting. HONDURAS has a population of 8.2 million. They ban their citizens from owning guns. They have the highest homicide rate in the world. SWITZERLAND, 8.2 million, requires citizens to own guns. Lowest homicide rate in the entire world.

If we make guns illegal, then nobody will get shot anymore. That’s how we stopped everybody from doing drugs. Right?

You can’t keep drugs off the street, you can’t keep drugs out of Elementary schools or Federal prisons, but you want us to disarm ourselves and trust the government from keeping guns out of the hands of criminals.

I have no problem with background checks on guns, but let’s do the same for immigration and voter I.D.
