Event was successful

To the Journal editor:

Thanks to so many in our community. Friday, Jan. 19, was a special night in Marquette for those familiar with hospice care. Seven teams competed for the traveling lip sync trophy in front of a soldout crowd at the Third Annual Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice Lip Sync Battle fundraiser!

We are so grateful. The success of the event is shared by many. A huge thank you to Double Trouble, Denise Elizondo, emcees Bill Digneit and Joey Black, Ashley McGrath and her stage crew, LaDolce Video, and to our judges, Mike Angeli, Amy Clickner and Kimme Peterson and to all the staff and volunteers who donated their time and talent.

Thanks to so many in the community, whether you put together a team, donated an auction item, promoted the event, purchased a ticket, or volunteered before, during, or after the event — we could not do this without you.

It is through your generous heart, that the real winners are the hospice patients who benefit from the proceeds going to our Patient Care Fund. This funds helps many families — by covering anything from special private celebrations for a last anniversary or birthday, to special outings, to equipment and expenses not covered by Medicare or insurance, to patient co-pays, deductibles, and uncompensated care.

The generosity of our community amazes me and I thank you.
