Just incomes for all

To the Journal editor:

As part of celebrating Labor Day, which honors the contributions of our workers and retired workers, we ask:

What are just incomes for workers?

What are just incomes for our 5 percent wealthy and for each population fifth for our 95 percent workers and retired workers?

To answer these questions, we define, justify and apply justice.

Justice is stated in our founders’ Constitution, legislative laws, executive regulations and judicial decisions, including those related to our wealthy white male, progressive income tax movements, workers rights, civil rights, feminist rights and environmental rights movements.

“Justice for all” is declared in our Pledge of Allegiance, which is part of our patriotic rights movements.

These movements reveal we responded to injustices by using revolutions to evolve our Great American justice progression from our minimalist federal government, providing justice for the few wealthy, to our activist national government progressing justice for all.

Applying justice for all, now is the time to progressively increase the incomes for most of our 95 percent workers and retired workers by increasing progressive income taxes for our 5 percent wealthy and having economic growth for all.

Our present mean household incomes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and our proposed mean household incomes based on economists, including Joseph Stiglitz, are:

– The present mean household income of our 5 percent wealthy is $322,343, and we propose it should be $200,000.

– The present mean household income of our highest fifth is $185,206, and we propose it should be $190,000.

– The present mean household income of our fourth fifth is $83,519, and we propose it should be $90,000.

– The present mean household income of our third fifth is $52,327, and we propose it should be $65,000.

– The present mean household income of our second fifth is $30,509, and we propose it should be $45,000.

– The present mean household income of our lowest fifth is $11,651, and we propose it should be $35,000.

– We propose $60,000 more for research, development and education/training for economic growth for all.

Those below the proposed income receive an income tax refund.

Many government assistance programs are eliminated, and the funds spent on research, development and education/training for economic growth for all.

As part of celebrating Labor Day, we declare justice for all requires just incomes for all.

Just incomes for all.
