Alternative energy
To the Journal editor:
As residents of the Upper Peninsula, we often forget how amazing our Great Lakes are.
In fact, they’re so great that they create the biggest lake system on the planet, containing 6 quadrillion gallons, or one-fifth of the world’s fresh water supplies. Their total shoreline extends for nearly 11,000 miles.
A study of wind generation in the United States found that the south shore of Lake Superior was fifth in consistent wind speed in the nation.
Clean energy, low transmission line cost, and the possible sale of power to areas other than our own.
Worth a look?
