Looking for work? There are many jobs available

Job seekers in Superiorland and elsewhere have never had it so good, with positions available just about everywhere.

Mining Journal readers should check out a listing of available positions compiled by the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce published today on our weekly local business page, page 10A.

There are dozens of jobs available on just this list alone, and by no means, is this listing exhaustive.

As readers can seen, many of these positions are entry level, which, of course, means relatively low pay. But that’s how one gets one’s foot in the door.

Many other positions listed today are good-paying jobs with sign-up bonuses provided.

Some employers are looking for professional workers and require degrees and experience. Others simply want people they will train and put to work.

Drive around the greater Marquette area and check out the signs on the front of businesses: just about everyone is looking for workers of every kind.

For the first time ever, getting and keeping good-quality employees is job number one for businesses. Gone are the days when Human Resources had a stack of resumes handy for managers to page through at their leisure.

Now, many employers including a fair number right here in Superiorland, are having to cut back on hours and/or services because they don’t have sufficient help.

A record 4.4 million workers quit their jobs in September. In all certainty, a fair number did the same thing in our corner of the world.

Industry analysts are unsure what specifically is driving this trend, although some believe low wages and COVID-19 burnout play roles.

Long story short, if people want to work, there are many jobs to pick from, a trend that’s likely to continue into at least the near future.
