Upcoming raffle a good way for area to support Beacon House

The fifth annual “Reverse Draw Raffle” party for the Beacon House will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the atrium of the Marquette Regional History Center in Marquette.

Tickets are $100 each, and only 250 tickets will be sold in order to keep the odds of winning high. However, guests may attend. One grand prize Reverse Draw Raffle winner will walk away with $5,000 in cash.

“The evening is one of the most exciting events we host all year,” said Beacon House CEO Mary Dowling in a news release. “It’s called the Reverse Draw Raffle because the first ticket drawn is the biggest loser. We then go on for another 249 tickets. It’s so much fun, and this year at the Marquette History Museum, we’re celebrating the history and the exciting future of Beacon House.”

Ticket holders do not need to be present to win. The ticket price includes prime rib and chicken dinner. Reverse Draw ticket holders are welcome to bring a guest for an additional $35.

“There’s a lot of energy at this event,” said Dowling in the release. “People come to support the cause, but it’s all about having fun losing. It’s a great time, with people cracking up and teasing each other because they’re “losers.” Ultimately, everyone is there to make winners out of our guests at Beacon House.”

In addition, the event will feature magician Naathan Phan, who has been on “America’s Got Talent,” Penn & Teller’s “Fool Us,” Bally’s “Las Vegas” and has made appearances on NBC, Comedy Central, The CW, and Syfy Channel.

“We feel this is a great addition to the fun and excitement of the Reverse Draw Raffle. Every year, great people gather to enjoy the chance to be the last loser and win $5,000. This year, it will be fun with some big time, Vegas-style magical moments added,” said Jesse Schramm of Checker Bus and host of the event, in the news release.

This event is a great way to have fun while simultaneously showing support to one of Marquette’s most worthy causes, the Beacon House. We urge anyone who is considering attending to come out and join us.
