NMU, MSU, UP Health System partnership a plus

A partnership between Northern Michigan University, Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and UP Health System-Marquette should provide positive connections, growth and development for each institution.

The Community Research Partnership will see specific types of research conducted by MSU experts on the NMU campus in conjunction with UP Health System-Marquette.

Observed NMU President Fritz Erickson: “It allows experts from all three organizations to collaborate on research that is important to the rural agenda, and it gives NMU students even more top-caliber research opportunities.”

One of the researchers, Michael Stoolmiller, PhD., will work out of offices at NMU’s Department of Psychology, collaborateing with faculty at the university and pediatric physicians at the hospital.

A second researcher, Erich Petushek, PhD., will focus on sports medicine and cognitive science. His work will take place out of NMU’s School of Health and Human Performance.

We expect this partnership, like all good partnerships, will benefit everyone concerned. The people behind the scenes who worked to organize it are to be applauded.
