No on May 5

To the Journal editor:

Here are more reasons we should vote no on May 5.

In “Democrat” Rick Snyder’s latest shell game in Lansing, he has, once again, proven he hasn’t a clue on how to run a public entity. When he forcefully transferred corporate tax liabilities to working families in Michigan, he made a fatal error to the tune of creating about an annual $2 billion dollar hole in the state’s budget.

He’s been unsuccessfully trying to plug that hole ever since with new and more taxes aimed at senior citizens, veterans, single working mothers, the poor, homeowners, and all hard-working families while cutting funding for roads, libraries, cities, retirement and health-care, police and fire protection, and under-funding schools and mental health services.

Hey Mr. Snyder – it ain’t working! More attempts to plug a new $325 million hole were announced today – how, by what he’s always does – this time he’s ‘stealing’ $160 million from the School Aid fund – from our children and this hasn’t been the only time he’s done this.

He’s also ‘stealing’ over $88 million from the teacher’s retirement fund! Oh wow – great move – not! I believe it is true – ya just can’t fix stupid. Additionally, this “Democrat” wants US to give him $2 billion more tax-dollars which he says will be used for roads and schools – and you believe him?

How gullible does he think we are – well, I guess we are because many of you voted him another term just because he lied and said he’s a Republican.

What’s the cure, besides having him resign? Here it is: Reinstate a 6 percent Single Business Tax on businesses with more than 100 workers; reinstate a 4 percent corporate tax (both for roads only) and permit local counties to vote on a millage for roads, matched by state funds for state roads within those counties.

Further, leave my retirement and the kindergarten through 12th grade School Aid Fund alone.
