He served as a corrections officer at the Baraga Correctional Facility for the past 13 years, where he also represented his fellow officers as a union representative with the Michigan Corrections Organization. He took great pride in his work and the people he worked alongside.

Outside of work, Brian lived life with enthusiasm. He was an avid weightlifter, a lover of history, and a loyal supporter of the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, and Michigan football. He enjoyed traveling, spontaneous trips out of town, visiting the casino, and discovering new places to eat. Above all, Brian cherished the adventures he shared with his significant other, Amanda Ecklid, with whom he spent 14 loving years.
