Joan Ann Lancour

MARQUETTE, MI Joan Ann Lancour, age 87, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the loving care of her family.

Born February 8, 1938, in Marquette, a daughter of Charles and Sophia Hawkins, Joan was a lifelong resident of Marquette and a graduate of Marquette Senior High School. On February 14, 1956, she married Lawrence ‘Larry’ Lancour, and together they established a loving home and raised six children.

Joan began her working career as a caregiver for local home health agencies. Caring for others came naturally to her-she was always willing to lend a hand or offer kindness to anyone in need. Her greatest joy, however, was found in her role as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Later in life, she took immense pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, rarely missing an opportunity to attend their many sporting events and activities. In her spare time, Joan loved making pasties and traveling to Ohio to visit family.

Surviving are her children, Lawrence ‘Tinker’ (Sandy) Lancour of Marquette, Dawn (Bob) Ervin of Sterling Heights, Mike (Lori) Lancour of Marquette, Kenny Lancour of Marquette, and Nancy (Dr. Ken) Onuoha of East Lansing; 16 grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Birler, April (Jason) Battani, Amber (Andrew) Buckmaster, Andrew (Ally) Lancour, Katie (Brian) Della Mora, Amanda (Aaron) Adriano, Brad (Amanda) Ervin, Allen Lancour, David (Karli) Lancour, Jacquelyn (Ryan) Bruner, Aaron (Cara) Lancour, Benjamin Ford, Paula Onuoha, Alicia Lancour, Makeila (Grant) Fadden, and Zachary Lancour; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her Husband, Larry; her son, Lloyd Lancour; a grandson, Jordan Ford; her siblings, Catherine Leanes, Edward Hawkins, Gerald Hawkins, Violet Dallas, Paul Hawkins, Ronald Hawkins, Wayne Hawkins and Nancy Morris; her daughter-in-law, Suzie Lancour and sister-in-law, Paula Lancour.
