CHAMPION, MI – Sarah Ann Bjork, 44, of Champion, MI, passed away on Monday, February 27th, 2023, at UP Health System – Bell, surrounded by the loving care of her family.

Sarah was born on March 30th, 1978, the daughter of Scott and Carol (Tasson) Bjork of Ishpeming. Sarah graduated from Ishpeming High School, then went on to the Continuing Special Education Program at the Jacobetti Center in Marquette, MI.

Sarah was a sweet, loveable caring person who’s eyes sparkled and her smile lit up a room. She participated in softball, Special Olympic basketball, bocce ball and bowling. She enjoyed playing bingo, going out to dinner, movies, shopping, boat riding and traveling with her parents. Her greatest joy was swimming with the Dolphins. Sarah was an avid Detroit Lions fan. She attended several games with her father and did not take losses lightly. Sarah enjoyed people and was a very social person. She had great admiration for her two nephews; Tyler and Tanner and their dog; Murffy. She attended all their sports events, however still had a love for the Ishpeming Hematites.

Sarah was a volunteer at the Greenwood Head Start and was awarded a plaque for Volunteer of the Year. She was loved by all who worked there and also by the children.

Sarah is survived by her parents; Scott and Carol (Tasson) Bjork, and sister; Rachael (Greg) Annala, two nephews; Tyler and Tanner Annala, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Ann and Vince Tasson, Allan and Alice Bjork and several great aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4pm on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Ishpeming, with Fr. Ryan Ford as celebrant. Sarah’s family will greet relatives and friends at 2pm until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow in the church K/D Hall.

The Bjork family would like to thank the nursing staff at UPHS – Bell and extending a thank you to Dr. French and Dr. Smith for their devoted care that was given to Sarah.

Memorial considerations may be directed to Greenwood Head Start in Ishpeming or Marquette County Special Olympics Area 36 in memory of Sarah.
