NATIONAL MINE, MI – Sandra “Sandy” Lee Langson, age 78, of National Mine, passed away on Monday, March 20th, 2023, at her home.

Sandra was born December 11th, 1944, in Negaunee at the Twin City Hospital. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1962 and attended the D.J. Jacobetti Skill Center. Sandy moved to Wyoming where she married Allan Langson in Casper, Wyoming, in 1982. They were married 23 years before he passed in 2005. Sandy had worked at Billy Bob’s restaurant in Casper, WY.

After returning to the area Sandy worked at Rollie’s Restaurant, also for Amcab at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans and later at Jim’s IGA. She loved being outdoors and at camp with family and friends. Her hobbies were picking mushrooms, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb. Just about everything that was pickable for making jams, hot peppers and even wine.

She was also an avid reader and enjoyed a good book. Other hobbies were knitting, sewing, and crocheting for family and friends always keeping them supplied with dish rags, scrubbies and Afghans. Sandy was always there to help if someone needed anything, she was a very caring person. She also loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Sandy is survived by one son, Derek (Mary Pat) Langson of Buckeye, AZ, two daughters, Annette (Todd Binoniemi) Syrjala of Ishpeming and Michelle (Randy) Diedrich of Marquette, two granddaughters, DeliaJo and Felicity Langson, two grandsons, William “Liam” Langson and Eric (Jessie Goethe) Syrjala, step grandson Jeff Diedrich, stepgranddaughter Shelby Diedrich, great-granddaughters, Jazalyn and Gwen Syrjala and great-grandson, Daks Syrjala, two brothers, Steve Harvala of National Mine and Jack (Karen) Harvala of Ishpeming, a godchild, Nikki Mannikko, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Allan Langson in 2005, daughter, Jolene Louise Morcom in 1980, her sisters, JoAnn Hartenberger and Diane Treloar, brother, Jim Jandron and special aunt and uncle Elsa and Carl Leaf.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00PM – 2:00PM on Friday, March 24th, 2023, at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00PM, with the Rev. Steve Weston to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Sandy’s family wishes to extend a special Thank You to her brother, Steve Harvala for his incredible care he took in tending to Sandy’s needs and to the U.P. Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
